US committed to secure, developed FATA: Patterson
PESHAWAR: The United States is committed to ensuring long-term peace and development in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), US Ambassador in Pakistan Anne W Patterson said on Thursday.
“The US has a multi-faceted and enduring relationship with Pakistan,” she said at a US-assisted training session of the Levies paramilitary force. “We are strongly committed to helping the people of Pakistan in our mutual fight against terrorism and to ensure that Pakistanis enjoy improved access to education, healthcare, and employment,” she said. The ambassador also visited Peshawar University’s (PU) Lincoln Corner, where she discussed US-Pakistan relations with students. She said a significant percentage of the $750 million in US support allocated for the FATA Development Plan would be earmarked for building schools and training teachers. app
